Accommodation rental app AirBnb has reportedly won the contract to provide rooms for fans and athletes at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Reuters quotes “a source with direct knowledge of the situation” claiming the disruptive start-up, which is valued at around $20bn, has won the contract the accommodate the vast influx of athletes, trainers, media and the public who will descend upon Rio for the festivities.
The five year old company beat off tough completion from accommodation providers Hotel Urbano and Alugue Temporada in the push for the contract.
