Anonymous messaging platform Whisper has hired Mark Troughton, formerly of Green Dot, as its first president.

The app has more than 10 million monthly users, and and is opened an average of a million times an hour.

“As a longtime friend of Whisper, Mark has watched us grow since we first started talking 18 months ago,” Whisper chief executive Michael Heyward said. “Our goals are much bigger, and we all felt that this was the right time to bring Mark onboard to help us achieve them.”

Since launching in 2012, Whisper has raised more than $60m.
