Vevo has appointed Erik Huggers, formerly of Intel’s Web TV, as its new chief executive officer (CEO).
This is the first time the role has been filled since the music video service’s founding CEO, Rio Careff, left last fall.
Huggers enters Vevo at an interesting time. While the service gets revenue from advertisers, most of the earnings it makes goes directly to music labels, leaving very little profit for Vevo itself.
“I believe there is great potential in accelerating innovation to delight audiences with new product features and premium content,” Huggers said in a statement.
