An ambitious online campaign to raise $1.6bn to service Greece’s IMF debt has reached €573,430 in just two days, after receiving the support of over 35,000 individuals.
Cash is being solicited to prevent the Mediterranean state from suffering the ignominious fate of becoming the first developed country in history to default on its debt. The eye watering sum had been due to be handed over last night but cash strapped Greece could not afford to pay, prompting one Londoner to launch the crowdfunding drive.
