ITV profits surge 25% despite ratings dip

ITV has posted a healthy 25 per cent surge in profits to £391m over the first half of 2015 despite a corresponding four per cent drop in the number of people watching its programmes over the same period.

Driven by the performance of hit shows such as X-Factor and Downton Abbey, the broadcaster increased total revenues by 11 per cent year on year to £1.36bn, driven by a strong performance at ITV Studios where revenues rose 23 per cent to £496m.
