Star Wars blasts away sexist away ‘sexist comment on Facebook page

One vocal commentator took issue with the stylings of the armour to be worn by Games of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie’s character Captain Phasma in the upcoming The Force Awakens film after fan art of the Stormtrooper was posted online.

While the fan tried to downplay the sexist nature of the observation, it did highlight certain prejudices as to what they felt female armour should look like. The post read: “Not to be sexist but it’s really hard to tell that’s female armour for me.”

“It’s armour. On a woman. It doesn’t have to look feminine,” replied the Facebook page’s manager.
