The Queen has won the Christmas TV ratings battle with an overall audience of 7.82 million, broadcast simultaneously on BBC1 and ITV at 3pm, with Mrs Browns Boys second in the overnight figures with 7.61 million as figures overall fell on last year.
According to figures released by the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board (BARB), including both the Queen’s Speech and Mrs Brown’s Boys, of the 10 most watched programmes on Christmas Day, BB1 broadcast seven with Eastenders (7.55 million), Strictly Come Dancing (6.98 million), Call the Midwife (6.83 million) and Doctor Who (6.34 million).
