285 million unique viewers consumed video on Facebook during the Olympics

Ratings may have been down on NBC for the Rio Olympics, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t interest in the Games. Also, millennials cared.

277 million unique people joined the Olympics conversation on Facebook during the two-week event, resulting in 1.5 billion interactions. Olympics-related videos drew 285 million unique video viewers (including live and on-demand) and 59 per cent of those viewers were under the age of 35.

This Games was the first time Facebook Live was available, and Olympics-related video posted via the product received 139 million views.
