The New York Times has become the latest media giant to back a newsletter startup targeting millennial women after it contributed to a $500k investment alongside Havas Group chief executive Yannick Bolloré, strategic advisory firm MediaLink and the actress Mariska Hargitay.
Following hot on the heels of an $8m investment led by 21st Century Fox, the publisher’s own contribution it is the latest vote of confidence in theSkimm, which now counts 4 million subscribers drawn to its daily distillation of the day’s headlines in a conversational style.
