The Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) has suspended more than 2,500 websites suspected of generating “tens of millions” of pounds for selling counterfeit goods.
The suspensions, which coincided with World IP day on 26 April, mark the latest step in the crime unit’s Operation Ashiko, for which it is collaborating with brands and brand protection organisations and website registries worldwide including Nominet.
