Rajeev Suri, who has until now led Nokia’s equipment unit (NSN), has been named CEO of the business.
He replaces Stephen Elop, who left Nokia to become executive vice president of the Microsoft devices group after the acquisition deal of the mobile phone division to Microsoft was finalised last week.
Suri has been tasked with focusing on networks, mapping services, technology development and licences.
The company said its vision was to become a leader over the long term in the areas of transportation, health and wellness as devices become interconnected.
Nokia sold its mobile phone business to Microsoft for £4.5bn.
