Amazon has swiftly backed down on it policy of leaving the Boston black suburb Roxbury out of its Prime free same-day delivery.

The company said yesterday that it would bring that service to the neighborhood soon.

Amazon spokesman Scott Stanzel said the company was “actively working ” with its local carrier to bring same-day delivery to Roxbury “in the coming weeks.”

Once that happens, that would leave no coverage gaps in Boston for the Prime benefit, which launched last year and now serves more than 1,000 cities and towns.
