Chris Evans nets new record audience share on Radio 2

Chris Evans, the ginger haired star of BBC Radio 2, has drawn a new record audience to his hit breakfast show which now reaches 9.91m listeners a week.

Evans’ achievement gives him the distinction of attaining the largest audience recorded in the UK since the present measuring system was launched 15 years ago and puts him nearly 4m ahead of Radio 1 breakfast rival Nick Grimshaw, who pulled in just 5.97m.

The latest lofty Rajar figures follow another radio landmark for the BBC, with 6Music overtaking classics station Radio 3 for the first time.
