Facebook is going all out for growth with its new Messenger service, the direct mail spin-off from its own site, by making the app available to anyone with a phone number.
This means that even people who refuse to sign up to a Facebook account will still be able to access its full range of functionality; including photos, videos, group, chats, voice and video calling.
