Google introduces new policies for US election ad transparency

Google has introduced new policies for U.S. election ads across its platforms to improve transparency of political issue advertisem.

Google is adding additional verification for anyone who wants to purchase an election advert on Its platform in the U.S. and require that advertisers confirm whether they are a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, as required by law.

Advertisers will also have to provide a government-issued ID and other key information. The advert wills also be required to incorporate a clear disclosure of who is paying for them to keep people better informed.
