Uruguay player Luis Suarez is continuing to dominate social media discussion of the World Cup after an unreserved apology to Italian player Giorgio Chiellini for his infamous bite racked up 66,000 retweets.
In it Suarez concedes for the first time that Chiellini ‘suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me’. The shame player went on to promise that there will ‘never again’ be a similar incident.
The tweet had the desired effect as Chiellini responded: “@luis16suarez It’s all forgotten. I hope FIFA will reduce your suspension.”
