Publishers round on Amazon’s ‘bullying’ tactics

UK publishers have rounded on Amazon for seeking to increase its margins during the latest round of contract negotiations with the industry.

Squeezed publishers complain that they are being forced to grant the web behemoth the right to print their books using its ‘print on demand’ service if they cannot supply sufficient stock by handing over electronic copies.

Publishers fret that the lower production values of this system could reflect badly on them whilst undermining their industry.
