Sony Music Entertainment has issued an apology after a hack on its Twitter account led to the company falsely reporting the death of Britney Spears.
The tweets, which have since been deleted, read “RIP @britneyspears #RIPBritney 1981-2016,” according to USA Today. Sony said the issue has now been resolved and in a statement offered an apology to the singer.
“Sony Music apologizes to Britney Spears and her fans for any confusion. This has been rectified.”
