Forrester has forecasted record US online Christmas sales this year thanks to a significant jump in purchases made on mobile devices.

The research firm predicts online sales over the festive period will set a new record, exceeding $95bn. The figure represents an 11 per cent increase on 2014 which Forrester credits to mobile devices.

While sales generated from mobile are expected to have grown, 11 per cent within one year is a huge boost for businesses. Online sales alone through mobile alone grew 87 per cent between 2013 and 2014.
