Just days after Facebook announced that it had acquired WhatsApp for $19bn, the app suffered an outage for several hours, leaving users angry and taking to Twitter to ask what was up with WhatsApp.
Now back up and running after being down for at least 210 minutes, a WhatsApp Twitter account has blamed ‘server issues’ for the messaging app not working.
However, some users are still reporting issues with areas such as adding contacts and sending images.
WhatsApp currently has about 450m users, although Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg predicts this will hit a billion within a year.
