Al Roker launches live cooking show on Meerkat

By Minda Smiley NBC’s Al Roker will livestream three food-themed shows this week on Meerkat in partnership with cook-at-home delivery company Plated and popular food bloggers. Through Roker Labs, the new live-streaming branch of his production company Al Roker Entertainment, The Today Show weather anchor is livestreaming shows that last anywhere from five to 15 minutes on Meerkat in an effort to combine his broadcast skills with new technology. Snapchat drops Yahoo and Warner Music from Discover, adds BuzzFeed and iHeartRadio

By Minda Smiley Mobile app Snapchat has booted Yahoo and Warner Music from its ‘Discover’ platform that rolled out at the beginning of this year in favor of BuzzFeed and iHeartRadio. ‘Discover’ was first unveiled six months ago with 12 publishers – including Cosmopolitan, ESPN, and Vice – as a way for them to reach their core audiences on the app, which is extremely popular among younger people. It allows each publisher channel to post a number of stories every single day, which include articles, images, and videos. Domino’s takes jab at Pizza Hut with ‘Pizza School’ site

Created by CP+B, the site is Domino’s attempt to one up Pizza Hut, which has gotten a lot of attention lately because of its hot dog bites pizza. Google unshackles users from mandatory Google+ accounts

The first Google service to be unshackled from Google+ will be YouTube meaning users will no longer need a Google+ account to leave a comment below videos. Infographic: UK listening habits: Havas claims 73% of Brits still buy CDs

By John McCarthy An extensive study from Havas Sports & Entertainment into global music consumption patterns has unearthed a number of surprising findings in the UK market. The ‘Fans.Passions.Brands’ study, conducted in partnership with the University of Southern California’s Annenberg Innovation Lab, questioned 18,000 people across 17 countries on how they consume, discover and engage with music. 1,000 British respondents revealed that the UK still boasts some old school music fans with 73 of respondents claiming to still purchase CDs and other physical media.
