At some point later this year, Google said it will stop using information found in Gmail inboxes as input for ad personalization.
Until now, Google has scanned the emails of the users of its free Gmail service to better target ads to them.
“Consumer Gmail content will not be used or scanned for any ads personalization after this change,” wrote Google Cloud senior vice president Diane Greene in a blog post. “This decision brings Gmail ads in line with how we personalize ads for other Google products.
