Netflix is poised to further bolster its production credentials with its first foray into the world of feature films, with the release of a sequel to the Oscar winning Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon next year.
The streaming service has struck a deal with the Weinstein Company to continue the martial arts story for the exclusive use of Netflix, together with a limited release in Imax cinemas next August.
Crouching Tiger: The Green Legend will see the return of Michelle Yeoh as warrior Yu Shu-Lien although director Ang Lee will not be participating; instead passing the mantle to Chinese director Yuen Wo-Ping.
