VMLY&R aims to bridge gap between brands and retail giants with strategic commerce shop

VMLY&R has launched a global strategic commerce practice, citing Amazon, Alibaba and Walmart as key partners in its bid to help clients capitalize on “the way that people shop today,” according to chief retail and commerce officer, Jon Bird.

Bird was officially named as head of the practice today (21 January). He previously held the title of executive director, global retail and shopper marketing at VML before the agency merged with fellow WPP shop Y&R.

The strategic commerce biz aims to forge strong ties with a number of big retail players in order to bolster its proposition.
