Twitter all but exploded today after Vanity Fair released pictures of Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner.

Bruce Jenner was an American Olympic athlete, most recently known as the patriarch of the Kardashian clan. Jenner revealed last month, on a special edition of 20/20, that his gender identity was female, and that he would be transitioning.

The Vanity Fair reveal marked the first time the public saw Jenner post-transition, or learned the details of her identity.

Within minutes of the new reveal, @Caitlyn_Jenner activated her Twitter account, gaining half a million followers within hours. Caitlyn Jenner and #CallMeCaitlyn began trending shortly after.
