After retail’s big week, what does 2016 have in store?

The festive forays of the country’s top supermarket chains have thrown up some surprises and some inevitabilities, ensuring that there’s still all to play for in 2016 as they get to grips with shopper first, technology second.

Christmas yielded mixed results for the grocery market; ; Tesco and Morrisons struck back with a sales rise over the key period, while Marks and Spencer’s food offering continued to shine.
