Barcelona’s mayor-in-waiting Adu Colau is under fire from business officials who fear her anti-capitalist agenda could damage the financial performance of one of Spain’s most economically fervent cities.
The leftist activist is set to take on the role next month (June 13) after she won Barcelona’s mayoral election earlier this month with 25 per cent of the vote. It was enough to narrowly secure her the role with 11 seats though her Bercelona en Comu party needs to form a coalition with other parties for a majority.
