Probably not the most original pick, but I think there’s a reason it’s so beloved. On a night that leans hard on celebrity cameos, CGI gimmicks and extremely broad humor, they went in a completely different direction. No ’90s nostalgia, no pop songs, no talking puppies. Just brilliant strategy, flawlessly executed, with a razor-sharp script that didn’t dumb things down for its audience. In trusting their instincts, they created pop culture (and sold a bunch of deodorant) while others merely drafted off it, and paved the way for brands like Newcastle in the process. Still my favorite.
