When you read the headlines, retail looks like it’s in its final act. Hudson’s Bay – the oldest retailer in the English-speaking world – has shut its doors. Forever 21, a brand that once defined an entire generation, is no more. Department stores are being hollowed out. Malls are ghost towns. And if you believe the commentators, things are only going to get worse.
