Just minutes after the announcement of the death of Leonard Nimoy, best known for playing Spock on Star Trek, Twitter erupted with thousands of tweets, further solidifying the platform’s ability to break news almost instantly.

Nimoy gained both popularity and a cult-following, playing first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the late sixties.

Regardless of the time that has passed between the original Star Trek and now, Nimoy’s fan-base has remained dedicated, reacting to his passing on Twitter.
