Beth Rigby, media editor at the Times, is to join Sky News as a senior political correspondent.

Revealed by Rigby in a tweet yesterday, she said she was “very sad to be leaving the Times and the brilliant team there.”

Very excited to be joining @SkyNews as senior political correspondent, but very sad to be leaving @thetimes & the brilliant team there
