Live video-sharing app Meerkat has raised an estimated $14m in funding following the service’s launch just in time for SXSW earlier this month.
The results of the fundraiser emerged just hours after Twitter launched Periscope, a live micro-vlogging app, which has the added benefit of being directly embeddable with Twitter – a feature which was swept away from Meerkat earlier this month.
Meerkat founder Ben Rubin said during the announcement which utilised the Meerkat live-stream that he’d been “inundated” with queries from possible investors.
